New European Tournament

Hi everybody!

Last weekend in Barcelone (where I met Stephane, nice to meet you!!), I spoke with everybody on another "European" tournament. The location (hihi) would be Bilbao, a lovable city in the North of Spain and the month would be Septemper to allow people who are able to go, to plan their holidays there maybe.

The formats for this new 2 days VS weekend would be:

1) DCL or MEV draft (we prefer DCL but we are having some troubles in adquiring sufficient boxes so if someone on this site knows how to find them any help would be apreciated).

2) BYOFMS (Build Your Own Fan Made Set): we are trying this format to give a chance to the new Sets created on VSSystem.org by very good players and playtesters. The idea is that only DSM-2 and DFC are legal for this format.

3) Silver Age Dual Legend Format: your deck has to include a minimun of 12 cards named or referring to each of the two legends you choose.

For this last format we are going to use the Erratas/Ban list of VSSystem.org:

* Armed Escort – Can now only be used once per attack.
* Nicky Fury – Can now only target opposing characters.

Furthermore we are going to apply the following errata to Bosom Buddies:

Bossom Buddies: If you have not played another card named Bossom Buddies this turn, two target X-Force attackers you control each get +3 ATK this attack. If those attackers are Cable and Deadpool, ready them, and they can't be stunned this attack.

For now, i really dont know if i'll be avaible on september...
But i would enjoy coming in spain!

However, i think these construct format are really hard:

- for the byofs, it can be very problematic: you have to explain strict rule for printing the cards...

- and I think silver dual legend is a little bit limited...

I really prefer open formats, like Golden age (maybe too much broken) or Silver age.

Or Maybe Blocks formats ( like MOR to DJL , MXM to DLS, i dont remember) it could be a good travel in time!

Its just my opinion!

And thank you to organize tournaments and keeping the game alive!

I agree with Beastboy and think that the constructed formats are too restrictive (especially the BYOFMS).
Why not choosing more classic format like legend, clone saga, RP, BYOS, BYOT... or even very open format like golden or silver ?
We were just thinking about organizing a big European or French tournament in October in Lyon... we have to think about your offer and the "French" one before going on.

I do not know if I am free in September (I hope), but I know one thing: with the errata on Bossom Buddies, I have won my first match against cable and The Captain/ deadpool in Barcelona (4 x used in the 6th round) Aoutch !

The strongest Deadpool/Cable deck can close a game as soon as the 3rd turn, it has the option to win on 4th but it doesn't play the Captain. You need the 4 drop Cable for its shift keyword to win as soon as possible.

BYOFMS is the "third" tournament, as the Silver Age random Punks in the last one tournament. The big tournament would be the Sunday Dual Legend. On Saturday we would hold ideally the DCL draft and only on Saturday afternoon/night the BYOFMS. We expect far less players on that one but it is the right way (in my opinion) to give a shot to these Fan Made Sets.

Maybe the big event is too restrictive but from our last event, we notice that sort of restrictive format (as BYOTT indeed is) keeps creativeness and need to play alive

So it's a good thing for the game.

If you are going to hold something in France we could speak about it and try to do a single big event, it's just matter of speaking about it. I mean, I'd like to play 3 big tournaments in the same year but the players community is already small and split it would kill it. So that we can keep Bilbao or Lyon event for 2011 spring and the other one for September/October (Septemper is just better for people who work) of 2010.

If the main constructed event is Silver dual legend, I may reconsider my judgement!
It could be ok with the DCL draft (DCL is a very good extension for drafting by the way).

I will come back to you asap for the organisation of an event in Lyon this year or not.
Maybe our French community can afford a national event (European players are always welcome) in the next months (as some players from Paris suggested) and a main Euro event in September?

Finally I don't think that Blink, Clarice Ferguson should be banned, because the errata used in Italy was a rather good (and better) alternative.

When Blink enters play, if a character with the same name and version has not come into play this turn under your control, put a shift counter on each shifted card you own.

During that event, is MEV still considered silver legal, or do you consided MEV as a golden set?
I hope it is still silver legal because I have an idea for a dual legend deck but it needs MEV!

At the moment you can consider MEV as a legal set for the tournament. Blink errata/ban discussion is still active on both Italian and Spanish forums.
