A+

Hello! If you are getting this PM/E-mail it means the weight of the world is about to be put upon your shoulders. This year the players' council is toying with the idea of a World Tour of Mega-Weekends. We're looking to plan 12 in-real-life events each spaced-out about a month in the year 2011. These events will span the globe; though the majority will be in the US (the site's largest following is still in the US/Canada). If you're receiving this message we're hoping you¡¦re one of the few with the cajones to pull this off for us. Here's the proposed calendar...
January - Australian Mega-Weekend (hosted by onezy @ Can Con - Canberra)
February - Southeastern Mega-Weekend (hosted by KJ @ North Carolina )
March - Southern Mega-Weekend (hosted by UncleChawie @ Houston/Dallas)
April - Northwestern Mega-Weekend (hosted by Baldman at Wonder Con - NorCal)
May - UK Mega-Weekend (hosted by Jason Howlett @ England)June - France Mega-Weekend (hosted by vincentjannin @ Lyon - France)July - Eastern Mega-Weekend (hosted by Allinone @ All In One Collectables - New Jersey)
August - Midwestern Mega-Weekend (hosted by scottkthompson @ Gen Con - Indianapolis)
September - Canada Mega-Weekend (hosted by Brendan @ Southern Ontario - Canada)
October - Southwestern Mega-Weekend (hosted by Majestic @ Majestix - SoCal)
November - Spain Mega-Weekend (hosted by yedai22 or Blackholexan @ Barcelona or Bilbao - Spain)December - Northeastern Mega-Weekend (hosted by OSM @ Myriad Games - New Hampshire)
Notice we gave months instead of specific dates. This is because we want you to pick weekends that work for your local players. We'd like to stick to the target months though because it will help us space the action out throughout the year. Note, this does not mean you can't run other tournaments in addition to the one you're assigned, but we¡¦re really hoping everyone can commit to volunteering for at least this one Mega-Weekend event for your area.
For most of you, I lined up your month with the same month you ran an event last year. Really, this request should be no change for a lot of you; we're just asking you to put 'Mega-Weekend' on the title of your event
Well, that might be a slight over-simplification; we're also asking a couple more things...
1. Keep deck lists from the event to post on vssystem.org
2. Pick your own fee for the event to cover prize support (we don't have a lot of resources left for prize support among council members)
3. Pick ANY format you want. Variety is the spice of life!
4. Describe what went on at the event for those of us that can't be there. Maybe even take notes on a couple exiting matches.
5. When picking an event like Golden/Origins Block/etc. We'd like you to use the ones listed on the formats tab on vssystem.org, but you can tweak from there.
That's about it!
Please let me know if you can commit to this or not. If you cannot, please try to think of someone in your area that can fill in for you, and let me know how to contact them. I think Keeping up steady IRL content will keep this game alive a lot longer than only doing events through MWS.
